The Atlanta Falcons are ready to move on.
Kirk Cousins’ struggles continue, so it’s time for him to watch from the sidelines.
HC Raheem Morris has finally decided to turn to his rookie signal-caller, and Michael Penix Jr. will start for them vs. the New York Giants.
That was an expected and deserved move, at least according to Rob Gronkowski.
On Wednesday’s edition of “Up & Adams,” the legendary tight end told Kay Adams that Cousins deserved to be benched because he wasn’t playing up to the standards.

This being the best football league on Earth, it’s only right for the player playing his best football to play.
Cousins threw one touchdown against nine interceptions in his last five starts, and that’s simply unacceptable for an NFL starter.
The Falcons also went 1-4 during that span, with their only win against the league-worst Las Vegas Raiders.
This team was in a prime position to win the NFC South Division.
They had swept the season series vs. their toughest opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they saw that big lead slip right through their fingers.
Now, the playoffs look like a long shot, and it became painfully evident that Kirk Cousins isn’t a good fit for what they want to do on offense.
Penix might or might not be the answer for them, but after using a top-ten pick to get him, it’s only right that they allow him to show what he’s got.
