The NFL decides on rule changes to try and improve the game each offseason.
Last year there was a serious issue with “hip-drop” tackles.
Similar to horsecollar tackles, they are an easy way for a ball carrier to get injured.
The NFL is trying to do what it can to limit the number of injuries.
Taking the “hip-drop” tackle out of the game might seem like a good idea to many people.
But not everyone thinks that would be a good idea.
Richard Sherman thinks taking out the hip-drop tackle would be “ruining the game.”
“Brother I’m at a loss for words. Guys going to have to make a decision to either allow them to drag them to the first down or give it by penalty. Ruining the game,” Sherman said.

Sherman mentioned that defenders will have to make a tough decision when going to tackle a player.
While it would make things difficult on defenders, it is best for the players’ health.
Players in the NFL are very good at making adjustments.
The game will not be ruined based on this one rule change.
Even though some players may not like it, it is for the betterment of the game.
Give the NFL credit for always looking to improve.
