The San Francisco 49ers have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
Notably, this isn’t much of a surprise at this point.
Kyle Shanahan’s team struggled all year, and while injuries had a lot to do with that, their offensive line also has left much to be desired.
That’s why former Niners star Richard Sherman believes it’s time to move on from Colton McKivitz and Jake Brendel (via Coach Yac).
In the latest edition of his podcast, the former Super Bowl champion urged the team to revamp their offensive line in the offseason:
“That offensive line needs to be the number one, number two, and number three priority this offseason… You need a right tackle. No ifs, ands or buts. No discussion, no nothing. You need to figure out a center. Maybe in the second round,” he said.

The Niners have a lot of things to figure out at the moment.
Brock Purdy is reportedly set to ask for top money in his next contract, and some question whether the team should make that kind of investment.
He didn’t look very sharp this season when his stars were hurt, which has always been a worrisome trend.
They also have injury-riddled superstars making a lot of money, and they’re not getting any younger.
The Niners entered the season as the team to beat in the NFC and maybe the entire league.
They had just been to the Super Bowl and were pretty close to taking down Patrick Mahomes and the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs.
That shows how difficult it is to stay competitive in the National Football League and how quickly things can change, even for the best organizations.
