Aaron Rodgers hasn’t played in a preseason game since 2018.
Certain liberties are afforded to veteran quarterbacks, including not playing in preseason contests if they would prefer not to.
While he might not have wanted to do so in Green Bay, it appears Rodgers’ mind has been changed.
According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, Rodgers will play in the New York Jets‘ final preseason game.

While this decision might not be intentional, this announcement is a kick in the face to Packers fans.
During Rodgers’ final seasons with the Packers, he appeared jaded and was seemingly unwilling to put in extra work.
He was on record saying that he wouldn’t throw a ball in the offseason and didn’t play in the preseason in his final four years.
Packers fans may be upset with Rodgers, but he’s on a new team, and they’ll have to live with the fact that he’s gone.
With the Jets, Rodgers’ countenance has been completely different.
He has not only been seen at all of the Jets’ offseason practices but has done so with a smile on his face.
Rodgers continues to work diligently to best prepare with his team, who hope to break their 12-year playoff drought.
The Jets are a common pick to make the playoffs this season despite their recent history.
Rodgers continues to bring hope to an organization that has seen heartbreak in the past several years.
His preseason appearance is another step toward hopeful success, growing and developing with his new teammates.
