The Portland Trail Blazers might be on the verge of finally trading away Damian Lillard to the Miami Heat – but will the Phoenix Suns be involved somehow?
That is a possibility, according to the latest reporting from Gerald Bourguet, via NBACentral.
Bourguet is saying that the Suns have emerged as a “dark horse” that could help facilitate a deal as an additional party.
The Suns have emerged as a "dark horse" to help facilitate a Damian Lillard trade, per @GeraldBourguet

When people hear that the Suns could be involved in the Lillard trade, they immediately think that the star point guard might make his way to Phoenix.
But that’s not the case.
Instead, the Suns could participate in the trade, move or gain assets of their own, and make both the Blazers and Heat happier with the end results.
What would the Suns gain from this?
Perhaps they decide to throw Deandre Ayton’s contract into the deal, sending him up to Portland in order to make the Lillard move go through.
That is just one possibility that could play out.
Three-team trades can get very tricky with many moving pieces so it remains to be seen how this one develops.
The Suns are very happy with their roster right now and are not looking to make any big moves before training camp starts in a few weeks.
They have had a very busy offseason with a new coach, a major departure, and some new players, including Bradley Beal.
Plus, they are still just months into the Kevin Durant era so all eyes will be on the team to see how they perform when the new season kicks off.
But the question remains: how involved will they get in this possible Lillard trade?
