The Los Angeles Lakers had one of the roughest NBA offseason in recent memory for the storied franchise, with the team’s front office unable to make any substantial moves in free agency or on the trade market to upgrade their roster ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.
Along with falling flat in the summer, the Lakers made a couple of questionable moves by hiring former player JJ Redick to be their new head coach and drafting LeBron James’ son Bronny James, which made many believe the superstar forward is the one pulling the strings in Los Angeles and not general manager Rob Pelinka or longtime team owner Jeanie Buss.
With no notable moves made to improve the roster and an unproven leader on the sideline, the future doesn’t look very bright for the Lakers franchise, with some predicting a rough season filled with disappointment.
However, Shams Charania of ESPN claims that the Lakers might be active on the trade market right now looking for a big man, which the team desperately needs ahead of the 2024-25 campaign via NBA on ESPN.
“The Lakers have been exploring potentially adding a big man, a center to their roster,” Charania said.

As Charania points out, the Lakers brass tried to address this void in the paint with the signing of former Toronto Raptors center Christian Koloko, but he has yet to be cleared by the NBA after dealing with a blood clot situation.
Although teams are usually set at this point, with the start of the regular season only weeks away, the Lakers might be able to make something happen, creating some optimism in Los Angeles for the upcoming season.
