Seemingly against all odds, the New York Knicks are now one of the hottest teams in the Association.
They’re coming off a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers but had the best defense in the league during their last eight-game stretch.
Notably, that hot streak may have changed the Knicks’ plans ahead of the trade deadline.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, they could now look to make a big move to help the young guys pick up the slack and make a deep postseason run.
And, even though they may not be able to land a superstar, they could look to make a run at Tobias Harris:
“One thing worth noting on the trade front is the Knicks have at least talked internally about the idea of acquiring Tobias Harris via trade before their winning streak started,” Begley said. “And obviously Harris having a nice game against the Knicks on Christmas Day. Tom Thibodeau spoke highly of him before the game, so that’s just one name to keep an eye on. I know that he does have some fans in the [Knicks] organization, Begley added. “He’s making a lot of money. It would be a big trade to pull off salary wise but it’s at least something that the Knicks had kicked around internally, prior to this past winning streak.”

Harris is a serviceable veteran who could help their offense, grab some rebounds, and even facilitate for others while not being a defensive liability.
Nonetheless, he’s often judged according to the massive contract he signed, and he’s just never going to be able to live up to those numbers.
The Sixers could be hesitant to make any big moves this season as they look to make a championship run, but even if they don’t want to disrupt their roster, offloading that much money could be tempting.
