The Cleveland Cavaliers already made one big commitment this summer, signing Donovan Mitchell to a new deal after months of speculation and rumors.
Now the Cavaliers are making another large move that could be wonderful for their future.
According to Brian Windhorst, per Evan Sidery, the Cavaliers are expected to reach an agreement soon with Evan Mobley for a maximum extension.
That would mean Mobley would join Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons, Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors, and Franz Wagner of the Orlando Magic as players from the 2021 draft class who received rookie-scale max deals.

Mobley is coming off a season where he averaged 15.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
He was only able to play in 50 games because of the injury bug that seems to hit nearly every player on the Cavaliers roster, but Mobley made his healthy moments count.
He had to pick up the slack during the postseason when fellow Cleveland big man Jarrett Allen sat out with his own injury.
Throughout the season, there were questions about Allen’s future.
Would he stick around in Cleveland or would the team choose to move him?
Although Mobley has been consistent during his first three seasons in the league, some people have complained that he hasn’t shown much growth.
Cleveland fans want to see more from Mobley and fear he is growing stagnant.
Now that he is signing a new deal with the Cavaliers, Mobley will have a chance to show those people that he can do much more.
Other questions about the Cavaliers remain.
For example, will they also cut a deal with Darius Garland?
But Mobley’s picture has just grown clearer and the talented big man is sticking around for the foreseeable future.
