The Cincinnati Reds have been one of the more interesting stories this season in baseball.
The team lost 100 games last season and finished in last place in the NL Central.
However, the 2023 season has been the complete opposite of what 2022 was.
They’ve played themselves into postseason contention and have several exciting young stars on their roster, including Elly De La Cruz.
De La Cruz was called up at the beginning of June and instantly gave the Reds a spark.
He can hit for power and average, run, and play some solid defense.
The exit velocities on his hit and his extremely hard throws are what is grabbing the headlines in Cincinnati.
On the MLB podcast “Foul Territory,” Reds legend Todd Frazier gave De La Cruz a shoutout and said that the new shortstop is “Mr. Red” right now.

Frazier explained his claim, saying that even though De La Cruz hasn’t been up in the Major Leagues for too long, he has already taken the league by storm.
De La Cruz has brought some extra energy to a young Reds club which finds itself not far back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central.
Cincinnati is just 1.5 games back of first.
Frazier made sure to give his former teammate Joey Votto some praise, saying that he could prove to be this year’s “Mr. Red” given the fact that he is the longest tenured member of the team.
But right now, De La Cruz is grabbing the headlines and providing the spark.
