The Boston Red Sox shook the baseball world by announcing the firing of executive Chaim Bloom on Thursday.
Bloom had been appointed in the role in late 2019: the Mookie Betts trade was executed under his watch, as well as other controversial moves that ended up affecting his job security.
However, he was seen as a brilliant mind when it comes to prospects and replenishing a farm system with impact talent.
A current Red Sox prospect, Christopher Troye, dedicated some nice words to him via Twitter and praised, among other things, the way he knew every detail about who worked for the organization and his approach to developing Troye as a pitcher.

Troye said Bloom gave him the opportunity to pursue his dream.
In 2021, he took Troye in the 12th round.
Control comes and goes (it’s still a developing aspect of the 24-year-old’s game) but he has a big arm and tremendous stuff, which obviously captivated Bloom back in the day.
The player shared a cool story of a chat he had with Bloom shortly after being drafted, and also said life goes on for everybody and he understands baseball is a business “of high turnover.”
Bloom didn’t even get the chance to finish out the season before getting fired, and the Red Sox are already looking for their next head of baseball operations.
In fact, there are already names circulating in the form of rumors.
Bloom remains a talented evaluator and will likely resurface with another organization or in a different role.
