After losing Xander Bogaerts in free agency to the San Diego Padres, the Boston Red Sox must now look at other options to improve their team.
Fortunately, they signed Japanese outfielder Masataka Yoshida and veteran closer Kenley Jansen.
Those are good moves, but fans are still reeling over the loss of Bogaerts.
The starting rotation is another matter, with starters Michael Wacha, Rich Hill, and Nathan Eovaldi all free agents.
With Carlos Rodon off the board, Eovaldi is the best option on the market.
But Red Sox fans don’t exactly have high expectations, and at this point are expecting to be disappointed.
Corey Kluber made 31 starts last season for the Rays.
The only Red Sox starter currently on the roster to take the ball every 5th day was Nick Pivetta (33).
Kluber isn’t exactly a terrible option at this point… I guess. https://t.co/rLMC5M82XF

Red Sox Fans Have Low Expectations
To be fair, as this fan pointed out, Corey Kluber was quite durable this season for the Tampa Bay Rays and his stats weren’t horrible by any stretch.
They certainly weren’t great though.
The veteran right-hander went 10-10 with a 4.34 ERA in 31 starts.
But a caveat is necessary here.
The righty did at least take the ball every fifth day.
The Red Sox also caught lightning in a bottle with Wacha, who despite more issues with his shoulder, won 11 games and had an ERA of 3.32.
But that doesn’t mean that Red Sox fans are excited about this offseason.
In addition to Bogaerts being gone, the team has yet to extend Rafael Devers.
Also, designated hitter J.D. Martinez is a free agent and could end up walking.
At this point, fans in Boston aren’t exactly expecting much in the coming weeks, other than to potentially be disappointed yet again.
