Free agency is upon us and with it, some potential heartbreak from several fanbases.
Fans of the Boston Red Sox might be in for some heartbreak this offseason with shortstop Xander Bogaerts currently out on the free agent market and expected to sign elsewhere.
Bogaerts joins Dansby Swanson, Trea Turner, and Carlos Correa as one of the four major shortstops available.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be one of the teams in on Bogaerts as the sweepstakes heat up.
On Twitter, Red Sox analyst and avid fan Jared Carrabis expressed his feelings on the matter, saying that he wouldn’t be able to stomach seeing both Bogaerts and Mookie Betts in Dodger uniforms.
If the Red Sox fail to sign Xander Bogaerts and he reunites with Mookie in LA, I don’t think I’ll be able to go on. It might be curtains for me.

A Devastating Loss
Of course, this is nothing new for Red Sox fans, who had to watch Betts go to the Dodgers prior to the start of the 2020 season.
Betts then went on to win a World Series ring with the Dodgers.
Red Sox fans bore the brunt of it, as the return for Betts wasn’t exactly a hefty one.
The biggest piece they got back in that deal was Alex Verdugo, who has been a solid contributor for the Sox, but has not been anywhere near on the level of Betts.
Now, the possibility of Bogaerts joining Betts in Los Angeles looms large and could potentially be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for Red Sox fans.
It would give the Dodgers a big-name shortstop to replace Trea Turner and it would leave the Red Sox in a position to have to go out and sign one of the other three shortstops on the market.
