The Boston Red Sox are set to begin a three-game weekend series against the slumping St. Louis Cardinals.
While the Red Sox have performed quite well this season, there is one area of concern for the team.
That would be their starting rotation.
The Red Sox will send James Paxton to the mound for the series opener and Chris Sale and Corey Kluber for the following two games.
Paxton is making his first start as a member of the Red Sox.
On Twitter, Red Sox analyst Thomas Carrieri expressed concern over the current state of the team’s rotation ahead of their series with St. Louis, mocking the age of the group.
The Red Sox three starters this weekend are James Paxton, Chris Sale, and Corey Kluber. If you time-traveled back to 2017 and told yourself this, you'd think they must have struck oil under Fenway Park.

Sale owns a record of 3-2 with an ERA of 6.37, while Kluber is 2-4 with a 6.29 ERA.
The Cardinals themselves have rotation issues, with their most consistent starter in Jordan Montgomery having an ERA of 4.11.
Still, the Red Sox don’t exactly have any top-tier starters pitching this weekend.
Boston has performed quite well this season, however.
They are in third place in the American League East division, but are in possession of the second American League Wild Card spot.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals come into town with a 13-25 record.
But if there is a weak point with the Red Sox, the starting rotation would be the one.
They’ll have to deal with stars such as Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Willson Contreras in this weekend series.
Boston is 8-2 in their last 10 games and 7.5 games back of first place.
