When the Washington Commanders made their trade for quarterback Carson Wentz, many fans weren’t happy.
However, those fans should have a little faith in their new quarterback.
While he isn’t an Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, he’s shown that he can win games.
That’s what the Commanders need, after missing the postseason in 2021.
So what are the three reasons that Commanders fans should give Wentz a chance and have faith in him?
3. Wentz Is An Upgrade Over Previous Quarterbacks In Washington
While it might not seem like much, Wentz is an upgrade at quarterback for Washington.
The former Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback gives the team at least someone who’s gotten his team to the NFL playoffs before.
However, some people focus on how Wentz flopped in Philadelphia and Indianapolis.
The Commander’s will be in the same situation again next year. But the problem with that take is his record with both teams is above .500.
While he didn’t get the Colts to the playoffs last season, he was 9-8 that season and almost made the playoffs.
With people focusing on that, they miss out on how he set up the Eagles for their first ever Super Bowl win in the 2017-18 NFL season.
However, it would be Nick Foles that would close out the run for Philadelphia, all because of an ACL injury Wentz had before the playoffs began.
But that shouldn’t take away from his ability to lead a team.
2. Wentz Was Improving In 2021 Over His Horrible 2020 Season
While he didn’t make the playoffs last season, he at least improved over his 2020 season.
His seven interceptions ties him with his previous career low and his 27 touchdowns ties his second-best season of his career.
With him making improvements in both departments, after posting 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 2020, there’s hope for Commanders fans.
Carson Wentz was one of the problems though. He had 16 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. That is the worst ratio of ANY starter in the entire NFL. His mechanics and footwork have been atrocious. The team just looks dead when he is out there. But you stay defending him. "lol" "lmao"

However, for him to continue his improvements on the field, he’ll need Terry McLaurin to help him out.
The young receiver recently re-signed with the Commanders and gives Wentz that weapon he’ll need on offense.
But he’ll also need to continue to work on his mechanics, something he messes up when under pressure from defenses.
If he can improve this one thing, and continue showing improvements elsewhere, he gives the Commanders more hope than they bargain for.
1. He Played All Of 2021, Showing He’s Not An Injury Risk
Wentz played every game of 2021, showing that he’s healthy and over those previous injuries.
Anyone that has concerns over his health shouldn’t worry much about that.
A healthy Wentz can give the Commanders hope, as he won’t be slowed by a nagging injury like years before.
While health might not seem like much, it’s been a major issue with the Commanders and their string of quarterbacks.
If the team can protect Wentz, he can give them hope as he stays healthy and helps the team possibly reach the postseason again.
