The Tampa Bay Rays are an interesting team to watch.
Though they are a small-market club and don’t typically spend a lot of money, they do consistently impress those around the game of baseball with their ability to win with a low payroll, as well as make trades that keep them in contention.
But there is something that fans wanted a little bit more of heading into the 2023 season.
Long ago, the Rays were not simply just “the Rays.”
In fact, they were founded as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Fans have been clamoring for the return of those jerseys, and the team has obliged.
On Twitter, the team announced the return of the Devil Rays jerseys.

The team will wear these jerseys for every Friday home game, much to the delight of their fanbase.
These jerseys certainly are a thing of beauty, and it gives fans a nice little blast of the past.
The celebration of these jerseys will be called “Devil Rays Days.”
The team operated under the name until after the 2007 season.
By 2008, they had updated their uniforms and shortened their name to just the Rays.
They reached the World Series that year, falling short in five games against the Philadelphia Phillies.
But since then, fans have wanted to see the Rays wear their old Devil Rays uniforms again and use it as a throwback or an alternate uniform.
Fortunately, fans’ prayers have been answered and the Rays will be using these jerseys as a home alternate.
