For years, NBA fans have debated who’s the best player on Earth, which era is better, and who’s the greatest player in league history.
To each their own, and there’s no objective criterion to determine who is or was better than the other, but this will be an ongoing discussion until the end of time.
Recently, Fadeaway World’s Ishaan Bhattacharya asked Ray Allen — who got the chance to play with and against some of the all-time greats — to put together his all-time starting lineup, and his answer was slightly surprising.

Allen chose Magic Johnson to run the point with Michael Jordan next to him in the backcourt.
He added Larry Bird and rounded the frontcourt up with Shaquille O’Neal and Hakeem Olajuwon, claiming that he would add LeBron James as their sixth man.
Well, it’s clear that Allen likes jumbo lineups, and it’s hard to argue that a one-two punch down low of Shaq and The Dream would be nearly unstoppable, regardless of the spacing issues.
What stands out the most is that Allen played with and against LeBron, and they even won an NBA championship together with the Miami Heat.
So, he knows firsthand what LeBron was capable of at his peak, and he still didn’t make the cut.
That’s going to raise some controversy online, of course, but Allen knows a thing or two about basketball, and he chose quite a competitive team nonetheless.
At the end of the day, though, it’s all wishful thinking and there will never be an actual all-time lineup.
