The Baltimore Ravens went through plenty of drama during the offseason.
Multiple players called out GM Eric DeCosta, and there was that never-ending standoff between them and Lamar Jackson.
But now that their quarterback is locked and loaded for the future, the hopes and expectations are quite high ahead of the upcoming campaign.
That’s why defensive star Roquan Smith believes the team is ready to make some noise out of the AFC North and put together a special run in 2023:
“I’m just excited to get out there and fly around with the guys, because I think we’re in for something special,” Smith said, via NFL.com. “And I think myself, personally, I think it’s going to be probably my best year, at least the way I feel physically and mentally.”

Truth be told, there’s no reason to believe that can’t be the truth here.
Smith just got a five-year deal worth $100 million, and he’s going to play a prominent role in the Ravens’ much-improved defense.
He’s established himself as a key contributor to the team going forward, and he has already had more than enough time to get a hold of their defensive scheme, which will obviously be a huge part of his success with the organization.
The Ravens traded for Smith in the midst of the 2022 campaign, and he helped the team reach the playoffs even after Jackson fell with a season-ending injury.
Smith expects them to get further in the postseason now that the team is fully healthy, but that will be easier said than done, especially considering the fact that they play in arguably the most competitive and physical division in the AFC.
