The Texas Rangers expected better from their roster after spending significantly more than $500 million on players during the last offseason.
They were “rewarded” with a mediocre 68-94 record.
As a result, they announced changes in the front office and in the dugout, too: they fired manager Chris Woodward during the season.
The search for a manager to take over the franchise started weeks ago, and it’s now over after it was revealed they found one.
“OFFICIAL: Bruce Bochy has been named the 20th full-time manager in franchise history,” the Rangers tweeted on Friday.

Texas wants results soon, so they brought in a manager who was three World Series championships under his belt, all with the San Francisco Giants.
He also took the Padres to their second ever World Series in 1998, but he lost it.
He Is Eager To Return To The Dugout
“With a calm and steady presence, he has a remarkable ability to connect and communicate with players, coaches, and staff, and his teams have always played with maximum effort. His knowledge of the game, as well as his integrity is unmatched,” Rangers executive vice president and general manager Chris Young said.
Bochy hasn’t managed a baseball team since 2019.
However, Young said he looks eager for the challenge.
“As we went through the interview process, Bruce’s passion and excitement about returning to the dugout was very evident. It became clear he was the ideal individual to lead our club as we continue to build a championship culture here in Arlington,” he stated.
The Rangers have a good base of position players with Nathaniel Lowe, Adolis Garcia, Josh Jung, and of course Corey Seager and Marcus Semien.
They do need to add pitching (a lot of it) if they want to compete.
