The Los Angeles Rams were expected to be awful during the 2023 season, but they surprised everyone, and now they have an immediate future no one could’ve imagined last summer.
They finished the regular season on a heater, winning seven of their final eight games, and they nearly upset the Detroit Lions in the wild-card round.
The Rams took a step toward continued success in 2024 on Thursday when they re-signed offensive lineman Kevin Dotson to a generous three-year contract worth $48 million, per Adam Schefter.

Dotson started all 14 games he appeared in during the 2023 season, and he allowed only four sacks in 881 snaps according to Pro Football Focus.

Los Angeles’ offensive line is a concern, especially since quarterback Matthew Stafford is getting up there in age and may be becoming a bit brittle with all the wear and tear he has accumulated.
After an injury-riddled 2022 campaign, he at least somewhat returned to form in 2023 by throwing for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns, although he completed just 62.6 percent of his pass attempts.
In addition to veteran Cooper Kupp, who was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro First Team selection in 2021, Stafford now has Puka Nacua, who is coming off a sensational rookie year, to throw the football to.
In addition, Kyren Williams blossomed into a Pro Bowl running back in 2023, which was only his second NFL season.
It may be too early and ambitious to talk about the Rams finishing first in the NFC West this fall and winter, but they should have a good chance of making the playoffs again.
