Although the 2023 NFL season has gotten off to a somewhat rough start for the Los Angeles Rams, with the team sporting a 1-2 record heading into Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts, the team continues to address the future beyond this season.
One of the keys to success over the past few seasons for the Rams, outside of having future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald leading the defense, has been their offense, especially when it comes to the passing game.
On Friday, the team took care of one of their better offensive players, with the Rams signing veteran tight end Tyler Higbee to a three-year contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
A new deal!
The #Rams and TE Tyler Higbee have agreed to a new 3-year contract extension with a base value of $27M, max value of $30.5m, and $17M guaranteed, per me and @TomPelissero.

Although Higbee isn’t considered to be one of the elite tight ends in the league like Travis Kelce or George Kittle, the 30-year-old is still able to make an impact on the field for the Rams, as he came into this season coming off his best year yet in the NFL.
During the 2022 campaign, Higbee caught a career-high 72 passes for 620 yards and three touchdowns for Los Angeles.
In three games so far this season against the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Cincinnati Bengals, Higbee has hauled in 11 receptions for 132 yards.
Higbee is currently playing his eighth season with the Rams and will look to keep it going with his long-term future secured for the time being at a very reasonable price, yet some may make the case he’s slightly overpaid for what he produces on the football field for Los Angeles.
