Everything was ready for Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani to show his talent on the East Coast, as his team is visiting the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
He pitched two innings, allowing one run against the Red Sox lineup.
As hard to stop as Ohtani is when he takes the mound or gets into the batter’s box, nature is impossible to stop or fully predict.
Rain made its appearance in Boston and interrupted Ohtani’s performance.

It started to really pour in the top of the third inning with the Angels up 5-1 and still hitting against Brayan Bello.
Since the game hadn’t reached the point in which it can be awarded to the team that is up in the scoreboard, it was delayed.
It’s clear that Ohtani’s outing was ruined.
Rain delays are certainly not ideal for starting pitchers.
There is a certain time lapse that, if reached, it wouldn’t be a good idea to bring the pitcher back.
Rain delay.
Keep your eyes on the clock. Usually around 45 minutes or so is too long for a pitcher to come back after a delay.
Losing Ohtani for the rest of the game would be sub-optimal.
The Angels are up 5-1 in the top of the 3rd.

Since the crew decided to resume the game, Ohtani probably won’t be a part of it and the Angels’ relief pitchers should be called upon to complete the remaining seven innings.
That could definitely alter all week’s plans for manager Phil Nevin.
According to Rhett Bollinger, the game will resume at 2:35 p.m. ET.

It’s hard to envision the Angels, as an organization, risking an injury to Ohtani’s arm by sending him back there.
It’s possible, though, and he had been warming on the mound under the Boston rain.
We will see how the situation unfolds in a matter of minutes.
