The odds are not in the Las Vegas Raiders‘ favor five games into the 2022 NFL season.
They were expected to dominate, especially after trading for All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.
His arrival reunited him with college teammate and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.
Their tandem could have ignited an explosive offense that also features Hunter Renfrow, Josh Jacobs, and Darren Waller.
Unfortunately, the expectation is different from reality for first-year head coach Josh McDaniels.
They have won just one of their first five games and lost by a total of 14 points.
The Raiders will have to learn more about closing out games if they want to get a second-straight postseason appearance.
But as the current team is struggling, Raiders legend Tim Brown consoled the team’s fans after their Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
@Raiders as a fan now, I truly believe if we play at this level the next 12 games, we will be in the playoffs! The year we went to the super bowl, we started 4-0, then lost 4 straight! Guys gotta stay strong and stay together!

Brown tweeted, “@Raiders as a fan now, I truly believe if we play at this level the next 12 games, we will be in the playoffs! The year we went to the super bowl, we started 4-0, then lost 4 straight! Guys gotta stay strong and stay together!”
The Raiders held a 17-0 lead before losing to the Chiefs, 30-29.
They still had a chance to win the game if Adams’ catch to set up a manageable field goal attempt was ruled complete.
A Glimpse Of Brown’s NFL Career
The Raiders drafted Brown with the sixth overall pick in the 1988 NFL Draft.
He became a two-time Second-Team All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowler.
Aside from being a wide receiver, he also became the team’s return specialist in his early years.
Brown finally had an opportunity to play for the championship when the Raiders reached Super Bowl XXXVII.
Unfortunately, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden’s familiarity with Oakland’s offense led the Raiders to a 48-21 loss.
Brown played 17 seasons for the Raiders and the Buccaneers before getting inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
