It’s the dawn of a new era for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Pete Carroll took the reins of the team, and with him, a new quarterback will take his talents to Sin City.
Shortly after his appointment, Carroll traded for Seattle Seahawks veteran Geno Smith.
That’s why there might not be room for Aidan O’Connell.
According to a report by Vic Tafur of The Athletic (via B/R Gridiron), the Raiders could consider moving O’Connell to get some additional draft compensation.

O’Connell, who’s been with the organization since he entered the league as a fourth-round draft pick in 2023, will most likely get them a Day 3 selection.
The Raiders currently own the No. 6 pick, and while most mock drafts have them going with Boise State star RB Ashton Jeanty, there’s still a chance that they will get Shedeur Sanders.
The team also hosted Will Howard, Jaxson Dart, and Quinn Ewers for pre-draft visits this week, so they’re clearly keeping tabs on the QB market to get someone to build for the future.
They will be back on the clock at No. 37, and given his ties to new offensive coordinator (and fellow former Ohio State Buckeye) Chip Kelly, they might lean towards taking Howard in the second round.
Whatever the case, it seems like O’Connell’s days with the Raiders might be coming to an end, and even if they keep him past the 2025 NFL Draft, he will most likely fall to QB3 in the depth chart if they also take a rookie signal-caller.
