The Cleveland Browns might have found their franchise quarterback after signing Deshaun Watson to a five-year, $230 million fully-guaranteed deal.
Guaranteeing 100 percent of the player’s money is a rare occurrence in the NFL because teams would like to protect their investment when injuries happen.
That’s why contracts often include bonuses and incentives to get more money.
Watson’s dealings with the law aren’t a secret, and Cleveland made a push for Watson after learning that he won’t be criminally charged for his 22 sexual harassment cases.
Meanwhile, the 2020 passing yards leader is looking for a fresh start by joining the Browns in their offseason workout program.

The Browns’ official Twitter account posted Watson’s picture with the caption, “QB 1 is in the building.”
Cleveland is one of seven teams that started its 2022 offseason workout program on April 19.
The other teams are the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks.
Watson Must Work To Regain Game Shape
Watson did not play a single snap last season even though he was on the active roster.
Likewise, he did not participate in team practices because of his dealings with the law.
Those cases might have canceled a potential trade that would have brought Watson to the Miami Dolphins.
For now, Watson must work doubly hard to regain his peak form because missing one season is no joke.
Rust will be his enemy once he starts the grind, and regaining muscle memory will be difficult.
This offseason, learning Kevin Stefanski’s offensive system is also part of his learning curve.
But great players will find their way back, and Watson has proven that he belongs in the NFL.
Therefore, Browns fans are in for a treat once he becomes the quarterback that threw for 33 touchdowns in 2020.
