Former Philadelphia Phillies great Jimmy Rollins is not done with baseball yet.
Late on Thursday, it was announced that Rollins would be joining the Phils’ front office as a special advisor.
Rollins spent 15 seasons as a member of the Phillies, hitting for a lifetime .267 average with 216 home runs and 887 RBIs.
Rollins was an MVP, a three-time All-Star, a four-time Gold Glove Award Winner, a Silver Slugger, and a 2008 World Series champion during his time with the Phils.
“The Phillies mean a great deal to me”, said Rollins.
“And I’ll do whatever I can to help this team get back to where it belongs, and that’s deep into October.”

A Familiar Face
Rollins can certainly attest to deep October runs, having been a World Series champion in 2008 and part of the Phillies run of five consecutive NL East titles from 2007-2011.
But it has been a long time since Philadelphia actually reached the postseason.
After winning the NL East crown in 2011, they were knocked out in the NLDS by the St. Louis Cardinals, and that is the last time the Phillies tasted October.
Rollins brings valuable experience to his new role and should help the Phillies in their pursuit to get back on track and end their postseason drought.
The team had a busy offseason, adding relievers Brad Hand and Jeurys Familia to their bullpen and signing Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos to boost their lineup which already consists of Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, and Rhys Hoskins.
Rollins should be a great fit to help the Phillies reach their goal, as well as pass down some prior knowledge to the Phils’ young core.
We’ll see if he can fulfill his goal of helping take Philadelphia back to the postseason.
