The New England Patriots have only won two games all season.
They were never expected to be a contending team this year.
However, with such a subpar record, it only made sense that they looked to part ways with some of their veterans.
Nevertheless, it seems like that’s not going to be the case at all.
According to Peter Schrager of the NFL Network, the Patriots have no intention whatsoever to go through a panic sale right now (via FOX Sports).

Truth be told, this makes some sense.
If Robert Kraft and the front office have faith in Drake Maye and Jerod Mayo, there’s not much of a point in setting the team further back by parting ways with the few good and proven players they have right now.
Of course, they need to get as many draft assets as they possibly can to keep building the team around Mayo and building their roster for the future.
But if they want to give him more reps and get him used to the speed and the feel of the NFL game, they might want him to go out there with as many starters and veterans as possible.
Not many teams take this approach, but the Patriots should’ve known that they weren’t good enough to compete right now; it’s not like this was a surprise at all.
As much as the fans would want things to be different, the Patriots will have no choice but to play it safely and keep being patient.
