As the NFL heads into the second round of the playoffs, there are quite a few notable head coaches who are looking for a job for next season and beyond, with some big names, like Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel and Jim Harbaugh, available on the open market.
One big-name head coach who was not expected to be out of a job after the 2023 campaign was Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks, who agreed to assume another role with the team moving forward.
With the Seahawks suddenly having a vacancy at head coach, Seattle’s job has become one of the more intriguing openings in the league, with some chiming in on who would be the best successor for Carroll.
Peter King of NBC Sports recently made an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show and believes that Vrabel would be the ideal choice to replace Carroll in Seattle.
“I think the best guy for that job without any question is Mike Vrabel. Mike Vrabel would be perfect with a guy like John Schneider,” King said.

Once it was announced that Carroll would be stepping down and assuming another role with the franchise, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn became the frontrunner to be the new head coach in Seattle.
As King mentions, the Seahawks are in no hurry to make a decision on their new head coach, especially with the number of viable candidates on the open market.
It’ll be interesting to see what direction the Seahawks brass go in their search for a new head coach and whether it’ll lean in the direction of Quinn, Vrabel, or another big-name coach that’s available right now, with teams starting to do their due diligence.
