The New England Patriots are looking for their next head coach after firing rookie head coach Jerod Mayo after just one season.
In that one season, the team finished last in the AFC East with a record of 4-13.
Now, as insider Peter King said on the Ross Tucker Podcast on Wednesday, the organization may be considering hiring another former Patriots player as head coach.
“Sometimes you just say, ‘listen, we got to go out and do everything we can to get Mike Vrabel.’ And I think that’s what the Patriots will do,” King said.

King also mentioned that owner Robert Kraft did not necessarily do Jerod Mayo any favors by hiring a relatively inexperienced and not-so-great support staff around him when it comes to coaches.
The organization hopes to correct its mistake by hiring an experienced head coach and former player like Vrabel.
Before becoming a head coach, Vrabel played for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008, between his stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs.
While with New England, he helped them win three Super Bowls and became an All-Pro edge-rusher in the process.
The Patriots Hall of Famer was more recently the head coach of the Tennessee Titans for six seasons (2018-2023).
He helped them win multiple division titles and earn a trip to the AFC Championship in 2019.
If Robert Kraft wants to fix his mistake with Mayo, hiring Vrabel could be the right move.
