The Philadelphia Eagles were so close to the Vince Lombardi trophy last season that they could literally feel it slipping right though their fingers.
As a matter of fact, lifelong NFL writer Peter King recently told “Crossing Broad” that if it wasn’t for the field, the Eagles would’ve won that game.
“You can argue that on a better field, the Eagles might not be the NFC Champions. They’d be the NFL Champions.” – Peter King ?

Truth be told, that’s not the best argument, granted that the Kansas City Chiefs also played on the same field.
Notably, Andy Reid put on a masterclass with his second-half adjustments, whereas former Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon failed to make the tweaks his team needed to get over the hump.
Then again, King is still quite bullish about the 2023 Eagles.
He talked about how Jalen Hurts won’t get spoiled after signing that massive contract in the offseason.
He knows how Hurts handles himself, and now that he’s gotten paid, he’ll only focus on getting back to work, getting better, and finishing the job they couldn’t finish last season.
Hurts was the most improved quarterback in the league last season, and it wasn’t even close.
He proved the Eagles did the right thing by holding onto him and giving him more weapons to work with.
Nonetheless, the expectations are even higher this time around, as he already proved what he was capable of, but he’ll now have to show that it wasn’t just a fluke.
With a big deal comes a big responsibility, but Hurts has proven to be mature enough to keep football as the No. 1 priority, even after getting paid.
