After a long and successful stint as Seattle Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll sat out this season, but it looks like he’s ready to be back on the sidelines for an NFL team.
There has been at least one team interested in hiring Carroll lately, and now another can be added to that list.
“Owner and GM Jerry Jones had an informal discussion with former Seattle coach Pete Carroll about the Cowboys’ head coach job, as well as about Brian Schottenheimer, who was his OC for three seasons, according to a source,” Todd Archer of ESPN wrote on X.

The Cowboys recently parted ways with Mike McCarthy, who was their head coach from 2020 to 2024 and got limited results during the playoffs, and they have interviewed several people to fill the vacancy.
Dallas has a star-studded roster but lacks supporting talent at numerous positions, and that deficiency played a role in a 7-10 record this season.
Carroll reportedly also is a candidate to become head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 73-year-old would likely bring instant credibility to the Cowboys, especially because he guided the Seahawks to a Super Bowl championship during the 2013 season, and he could make them a defensive powerhouse, just as he did with Seattle back in the day.
But Dallas needs to make a number of fortifications to their roster if it hopes to have any shot at getting to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1995 season.
