Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the first wide receiver off the board during the 2023 NFL Draft.
He was a highly-regarded pass-catcher known for his impressive performances at Ohio State.
Smith-Njigba impressed many throughout training camp for the Seattle Seahawks but recently suffered an injury during a preseason game.
It was initially reported that Smith-Njigba had a wrist fracture, but his timeline to the field was unknown at the time.
According to Pete Carroll via Ari Meirov, Smith-Njigba is slated to miss three to four weeks, an optimistic timeline.
#Seahawks' rookie WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba has not yet undergone surgery for a minor wrist fracture, per HC Pete Carroll. He is seeing a hand specialist. They are maintaining an optimistic outlook, but Carroll mentioned that they are hoping it's a 3-4 week deal.

While Smith-Njigba has an outside chance to be on the field in Week 1, it seems like the team will be cautious with him.
As a newly drafted, highly-regarded player, the Seahawks should be safe than sorry.
If the organization rolls him out too soon, he has a chance at reinjury, but could also make matters worse.
The good news for the Seahawks is that even though Smith-Njigba is slated to have a large role in this offense, they have other options until he gets back.
Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf are still in-line to receive significant receiving work this season, even with Smith-Njigba on the field.
While he is recovering, Lockett and Metcalf will likely see an increased target share given their current rapport with Geno Smith.
The Seahawks surprised many across the league by making the playoffs last season.
They believe in Smith’s ability to lead this offense, which is now supplemented by Smith-Njigba.
Seahawks fans are waiting for his return, hoping to see this rookie in action soon.
