Some people have been surprised by the lack of moves the New Orleans Pelicans have made so far during this offseason.
Certain fans were expecting, and hoping for, big things from the team.
Nothing has happened yet but the front office still has time to shake things up.
One person close to the team thinks they should do something very big – and very soon.
Speaking to The Athletic, via NBACentral, former front office executive John Hollinger talked about what he’s heard from the Pelicans.
“I had one person associated with a team tell me New Orleans should pull the plug on [Zion Williamson’s] era while they have the chance this offseason,” he said.
He added: “I had another person tell me he believes Williamson is going to be fueled by all the controversy this summer and become an MVP candidate in 2023-24.”

Once again, people are talking about the future of Zion Williamson with the Pelicans.
We have heard this a lot lately.
Some people think that the team should hold onto Williamson despite his health problems.
Others think it is time to cut him loose.
They say he should be traded while his value on the market is still relatively high.
Williamson has garnered tabloid headlines for other reasons recently too.
That embarrassment just adds fuel to the fire for some.
If he remains healthy and committed in the new season, Williamson could be a huge force for the team again.
As a reminder, they were the best team in the West at the start of last season until another injury took him out.
But if he doesn’t, the chorus of people calling for a trade will grow much louder.
If individuals close to the team really are talking about getting rid of Williamson then this could become a reality soon.
And a frustrating era in Pelicans history could come to a close.
