Pedro Martinez and the New York Yankees have a lot of history.
From 1998 to 2004, perhaps the best years of his career, he pitched with the Boston Red Sox, the Yanks’ biggest rivals.
Naturally, he was a hated player by Yankee fans, and the peak of the rivalry came in 2003.
During the American League Championship Series Game 7 between the two arch rivals, Martinez and Roger Clemens started the game.
It was a rematch of Game 3, when Clemens beat Martinez.
Martinez gave up the Red Sox’s lead in the eighth inning by allowing a double to Hideki Matsui and a single to Jorge Posada, as the Yankees tied the game and sent it to extras: that was the Aaron Boone walk-off homer game.
Yankees fans started chanting “who’s your daddy?” to Pedro as he walked off the mound.
“Who Is Your Daddy Now?”, Martinez Asks
Fast forward to the 2022 AL Championship Series between the Yankees and the Houston Astros.
The Astros swept the Yankees in four games and Martinez, now an analyst, had a question for Yankees fans.

“I want an answer and I want it quick: Yankees, who is your daddy now? It’s the Astros!” Martinez said with a grin.
Yankees fans didn’t take long to react on Twitter as Martinez trolled them after being swept by Houston.
The Astros not only swept the Yanks: they looked to be ahead at every facet of the game.
Houston has now been responsible of eliminating New York in 2015 (Wild Card Game), 2017, 2019, and 2022, the last three in the Championship Series.
Martinez may be right after all: the Astros absolutely own the Yankees and have done it for a few years now.
