The Boston Celtics haven’t won an NBA championship since 2008.
Notably, the last time it happened was when Paul Pierce wreaked havoc on the court.
That’s why the Celtics legend isn’t worried the slightest about Game 5.
Talking on Undisputed, he stated that the Celtics were just a glitch in the matrix and nothing to be worried about.
Pierce showed up dressed in green to wish his former team good luck, not that they would need it.

Of course, Pierce is a team legend and became a diehard Celtics fan after spending most of his career there, so his words should be taken with a grain of salt.
On paper, they should be more than capable of closing things out in front of their home crowd, and they’re 6.5-point favorites ahead of the game, even though Kristap Porzingis’ availability is still pretty much up in the air.
Pierce has the utmost confidence in Joe Mazzulla’s team.
The Celtics have been the better team and they have more depth and talent than their opponents, not to mention the fact that they play with the confidence of knowing they just need another win to clinch the championship.
Still, that’s a two-way street.
Being so close can also lead to mental breakdowns and unforced mistakes, and the Dallas Mavericks can now play like a team with nothing to lose, knowing that no one has ever comeback from a 3-0 hole in the NBA Finals.
