In spite of everything that has been going wrong for the St. Louis Cardinals, the reigning National League MVP is still getting the job done.
On Sunday, the Cardinals were in danger of being swept by the Detroit Tigers.
However, Paul Goldschmidt busted out the lumber and hit three home runs to lead St. Louis to a 12-6 victory.
The win snapped an eight-game losing skid, their longest such streak since September of 2007.
On Twitter, the Cardinals posted a video featuring all three of Goldschmidt’s home runs and also included some of his numbers from the game in the caption of the tweet.
A HUGE Sunday afternoon for MVPaul!

Goldschmidt went 4-for-5 on Sunday, driving in four runs, scoring four, and stealing a base.
And the veteran slugger may have saved the Cardinals season in the process.
The team started off 10-24 this season and fell to the bottom of the National League.
While one win may seem inconsequential as of now, the Cardinals were in desperate need of it, and their MVP helped pull them out of their funk and led them to an important win ahead of their series with the rival Chicago Cubs.
St. Louis also gained a game on the slumping Pittsburgh Pirates, who remain at the top of the NL Central despite their recent slide.
It’s no secret that 2023 has been a season to forget so far for the Cardinals, but Goldschmidt helped them begin the process of potentially salvaging the remainder of the year.
They’ll begin a road trip on Monday which will take them to Wrigley Field and Fenway Park.
