The Los Angeles Clippers could’ve gotten something in return for Paul George.
The Golden State Warriors were eager to get him to the Bay area, and reports state they made several enticing offers to get him.
Nonetheless, the Clippers were reportedly not interested.
In the latest edition of George’s Podcast P Show, he admitted that a trade to the Warriors was a real possibility and that it was pretty close to happening (via NBA Central).

Reports state that George was actually on board with teaming up with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
The Clippers didn’t have any sort of interest in trading with a divisional rival or helping them out in any way, so they chose to lose George in free agency and not get anything in return instead.
Given their salary cap situation, the Warriors were unable to pursue George as a free agent, and that was the end of the story.
Truth be told, this just sounds like something done out of spite, which is poor asset management.
Regardless of if you didn’t want to help the player get to his preferred destination, you have to do what’s best for the team, and they could’ve landed potential building blocks, just like the Oklahoma City Thunder did when they got Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from them.
Now, they have nothing to show for it after five years of him in Los Angeles.
