The New England Patriots have a history of rewarding hard work.
They don’t care about draft positioning or big-money deals; they’ll play whoever wants it the most.
That’s why rookie wide receiver Efton Chism may have landed right where he needed to.
The undrafted rookie out of Eastern Washington has turned some heads in training camp.
And, being an undersized and gritty pass-catcher from a small program, it didn’t take long before he drew comparisons to Julian Edelman.
Nevertheless, when asked about that, the former Super Bowl MVP claimed that he actually reminded him of one of his fellow pass-catchers: Danny Amendola.
“I think [Efton Chism] reminds me more of [Danny Amendola] than he does me. The way he runs is a little like that. His playing strength is really impressive. He’s had a hell of a camp. It’s gonna be an interesting decision in that receiver room,” Edelman said.

Chism has been the most productive wide receiver for Mike Vrabel’s Patriots in the preseason.
He’s still a long shot to make the team, but with Ja’Lynn Polk set to miss the whole season, there’s a chance that he will make his way through the final cut.
He’s the type of gritty and physical slot receiver the Patriots have thrived with, and his production has been stellar in the preseason, being the only pass-catcher to have a receiving touchdown and at least 100 receiving yards.
He’s not going to play in Thursday’s preseason finale, so he will have to earn his dough in practice from now on.
Final roster cuts are just around the corner, but even if he doesn’t make it, he should still be on the team’s radar as a practice-squad pickup.
Still, after what he’s shown, it will be tough to keep him off the field.
