The New England Patriots have been one of the most impressive teams in the NFL this season.
Clearly, hiring Mike Vrabel as head coach was the right decision, and most of the other moves they made this offseason are also paying off.
However, one of them hasn’t.
Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson has not lived up to the expectations of being a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Through the first seven games of his NFL career, Henderson has fewer rushing yards than Spencer Rattler, Kimani Vidal, Kyle Monangai, Kenneth Gainwell, Kendre Miller, Blake Corum, Tyler Allgeier and Kareem Hunt, among others.
Henderson was expected to be a dual threat out of the backfield, yet he also has fewer receiving yards than Kyle Juszczyk, Justice Hill, Jaylin Lane, Van Jefferson, Tony Pollard, Brashard Smith, Mack Hollins, Jahan Dotson and Dylan Sampson.

Henderson has 43 carries for 153 rushing yards and one touchdown, and he has yet to rush for more than 15 yards on a single carry.
As a pass catcher, he has 16 receptions on 18 targets for 99 yards.
Henderson was expected to be the better Ohio State running back coming out of this draft, but Quinshon Judkins has been much more productive for the Cleveland Browns.
Much of that has to do with the Patriots’ apparent reluctance to give Henderson a bigger role behind veteran Rhamondre Stevenson.
It’s too early to give up on the rookie, but the returns certainly aren’t promising so far.
