The New England Patriots are heading into a new era of football for the storied NFL franchise, as they have moved on from legendary head coach Bill Belichick and have embraced the rebuilding process with rookie quarterback Drake Maye leading the way.
Although Maye has shown some promise ever since head coach Jerod Mayo made him the starter, the Patriots continue to struggle from week to week, as they’ve only managed to win two games this season heading into the second half of the year.
With the Patriots potentially far from being a force to be reckoned with in the AFC as currently constructed, it is no surprise that multiple teams would come calling ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday to try to land one of their talented players on both sides of the football.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Patriots received calls from opposing teams with trade interest in four players: Davon Godchaux, KJ Osborn, Kyle Dugger and Kendrick Bourne.

As Russini pointed out, the only move the Patriots ended up making ahead of the trade deadline was moving Josh Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The rest of the season will be to get reps for Maye while trying to keep the future face of the franchise healthy for the long term, which could be a challenge with the team’s offensive line struggling to get him protection, forcing the rookie to use his legs to make plays and keep New England in games offensively.
