Tom Brady will be back on an NFL field next season, but not the way most fans wanted it to happen.
The New England Patriots will honor the greatest player in franchise history — and arguably the greatest player of all time — during their home opener for the 2023 NFL season, according to team owner Robert Kraft.
The Patriots shared a video featuring Kraft praising Brady before making the announcement, confirming he’ll be in attendance at Gillette Stadium for their game.
“The greatest player in the history of the game played right here in Foxboro, and I’m happy to tell you…I invited him back to come here and be with us at the opening game.”

Notably, the post-Brady era has been a bit of a tough transition for the Patriots, and understandably so.
Not many teams are able to find success right away after losing their Hall-of-Fame quarterback, and that has reignited the debate about whether Bill Belichick was a product of Brady or vice versa.
It didn’t take long before Brady made his way back to the big game and the Vince Lombardi trophy, winning the Super Bowl in his very first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to keep adding to his legend and unmatched résumé.
Things didn’t end well between him, Brady, and the Patriots organization, so it’s nice to see them bury the hatchet to honor the legacy of the player that turned them into one of the most dominant dynasties in major sports history.
Brady won six rings in New England and helped them develop the ultimate winning culture, even if that meant taking less money.
Now, it’ll be up to the fans to show him the love and appreciation he deserves after all he did for the organization.
