The NFL has been a hot topic among sports media over the past several days.
There have been growing reports about players making wagers on their games, and the Indianapolis Colts have recently released two of their own as a result.
While the NFL and its gambling policies have been on full display as of late, Jonathan Jones of the New England Patriots has raised an interesting topic for discussion.
According to Jones’ Twitter via Mass Live and Pro Football Talk, Jones said, “I can risk my life so that my team wins but I can’t risk 1k on my team winning.”

Jones has been one of the first players to speak about the NFL’s current policies as it relates to gambling.
With the rise of sports gambling in the United States, especially on mobile devices, this topic isn’t going away anytime soon.
As Jones indicates, every time that he steps on the field is another chance he could get seriously injured.
He doesn’t see that as any different than placing a wager on his team, especially if it is for his team to win.
This continues to be a developing story, and the league hasn’t yet commented on Jones’ statements in regard to this situation.
However, given the serious nature of these charges, including the recent release of two Colts players, Jones could face some repercussions.
The Detroit Lions went through a few problems of their own, having to release a few of their players and suspend a few others.
