The New England Patriots are ready to get a clean slate, and so is Mac Jones.
Once a first-round pick, he’s now worth a sixth-rounder.
According to a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Patriots agreed to send the Alabama product to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones is a Jacksonville native, so he’s going to welcome the opportunity to come back home.
When it comes to playing time, however, there might not be plenty for him.
The Jaguars are firmly committed to Trevor Lawrence, as they should.
However, he did struggle with injuries last season, and while he’s been quite durable throughout the course of his career, the Jaguars had to turn to CJ Beathard with the season on the line.
Now, they have a significantly better backup quarterback.
Mac Jones was reportedly looking forward to regaining his spot in Foxboro, but it seemed like a change of scenery was long overdue.
Even if Bill Belichick was no longer in town and he deserved most of the blame for the way his career was panning out, he wasn’t going to get much of an opportunity with Jerod Mayo either, especially with the Patriots likely to take Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels with the No. 3 pick.
He will now get to work under Doug Pederson, and that might be just what he needs to get the ship back on course.
He showed signs of promise and could still have a future in this league if given an opportunity somewhere else.
