The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl.
This is the fifth time they’ve reached this stage in Patrick Mahomes’ seven years as a starter.
This is also the third consecutive year they’ve gone this far.
With that in mind, NFL on CBS shared a rather wild tweet about Mahomes’ postseason stats.
Patrick Mahomes' career playoff stats are ridiculous ?
17-3 Record
6,138 Total Yards
50 Total TDs
8 INTs
105.8 Passer Rating pic.twitter.com/DQOZGPlgz7— NFL on CBS ? (@NFLonCBS) January 28, 2025
He’s gone a whopping 17-3 in 20 postseason contests.
He’s accumulated 6,138 total yards with 50 total touchdowns against just eight interceptions, logging a passer rating of 105.8.
Mahomes wasn’t the best quarterback in the league this season.
One could argue that he wasn’t even in the top five.
Even so, he’s still the best quarterback in the league, especially come playoff time.
Only two quarterbacks have been able to beat him in the playoffs: Tom Brady (twice) and Joe Burrow.
Mahomes is already a first-ballot Hall of Famer and hasn’t even turned 30 yet, and not even losing the Super Bowl will change that.
But if he wins it, he will be inching closer to the legendary Tom Brady as the winningest quarterback in Super Bowl history.
It’s easy to despise the team dominating the league, and the Chiefs no longer get sympathy.
Then again, even their fiercest detractor has to give Mahomes props with these kinds of numbers.
We’re witnessing history, so we might as well enjoy it while we still can.
