The Kansas City Chiefs are going through a tough situation right now, as star DT Chris Jones continues to hold out as he continues to look for a lucrative contract extension.
Recently, the media asked for Patrick Mahomes’ take on his absence, and the star quarterback was nothing but supportive of his decision.
Mahomes claims that Jones loves the organization and knows it must be hard for him, but he also knows that everyone should look to take care of himself and his family (via Lexi Osborne).

He added that the Chiefs are fully confident in the fact that he’s continued to put in hard work and stay in shape for the upcoming season, stating that no one ever thought the situation would come to this.
Jones has shared several cryptic messages about his situation, and it doesn’t seem like he’s planning to end his holdout any time soon.
He’s been away from the team throughout the course of training camp, and he recently made it clear that he could sit out until Week 8 of the upcoming campaign.
HC Andy Reid raised even more concerns when he admitted that there had been no communication between the team and the perennial Pro Bowler, hinting at getting ready to start the season without him.
Jones is entering the final year of his four-year, $80 million contract, and is reportedly looking to get more than $30 million a year in his next deal, which is something the Chiefs seem unwilling to do right now.
