The Kansas City Chiefs are on the heels of a blowout win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.
This brought their record to 15-1 on the season, securing them the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, which comes with a first-round bye.
A bye week at this point in the season is crucial for teams, as it allows them more time to rest and get healthy, something the Chiefs have struggled with all year.
Patrick Mahomes had even more motivation for securing the bye week, as he told reporters after the game.

His wife is currently pregnant with their third child, and they seem to be excited to welcome another person to their growing family.
Players often have to make difficult decisions around the birth of their children, but Mahomes might not have to miss any games or practices if the baby comes as expected.
With any luck, the baby will be born during the bye week, and Mahomes can spend time with his new child and the rest of his family before getting back to work and trying to win a third straight Super Bowl.
Mahomes doesn’t likely need any help paying for diapers given his massive contract, but he’d still like to win another Super Bowl to add to his resume and bring even more glory to the Chiefs organization.
