Last season was a bit of a roller-coaster ride for the Kansas City Chiefs, with the storied franchise starting the season by trading superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.
The move surprised everyone and sparked much debate about whether the Chiefs could remain a dominant force offensively, with only superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce leading the way for Kansas City.
Although it was a bit of an up-and-down season, the Chiefs ultimately proved it is more about the system, head coach Andy Reid, and Mahomes’ brilliance under center that makes them a perennial title contender.
However, the team did get a bit of a scare in the NFL playoffs, with Mahomes suffering an ankle injury that looked like it was going to end his season.
Obviously, that didn’t happen, and he went on to win his second Super Bowl title with the Chiefs, but there’s still some concern about his ankle, which he addressed ahead of training camp, via James Palmer of NFL Network.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on his injured ankle: “It feels great”.
“I’m in a good spot with it.”

It’s been a few months now since Mahomes led the Chiefs to victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, which means he’s had plenty of time to get his body right and ready for the rigors of the upcoming NFL season.
Mahomes’ ankle will be a storyline throughout training camp, as everyone will be wondering if he truly is 100% heading into the 2023 campaign.
If Mahomes is healthy, the Chiefs will start the season as the team to beat once again, with every title contender in the league gunning for Reid’s squad.
