The NFL media is committing recency bias against Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
That’s why NBC Sports’ Warren Sharp tried to put things into perspective with one tweet.
Patrick Mahomes: *barely misses trip to 3rd straight Super Bowl*

Sharp shared a post that reads, “Patrick Mahomes: barely misses trip to 3rd straight Super Bowl. Media:” before including two screenshots.
The first image is from the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football with a discussion on why Joe Burrow should be viewed as the top quarterback in the AFC.
Meanwhile, next to it is a statement from ESPN analyst Sam Acho, saying that “Patrick Mahomes is not a Top-5 QB.”
It’s like these football personalities forgot recent NFL history by ignoring Mahomes’ achievements since he became the Chiefs’ starting quarterback.
No One Comes Close To Mahomes
The NFL is lucky to have a young bunch of quarterbacks ready to take over the league, especially after Tom Brady announced his retirement.
Burrow is one of the more notable signal-callers after leading the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl in his second season.
Josh Allen, Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert are also in that bunch.
But none of these quarterbacks are even within striking distance of what the former Texas Tech standout has achieved.
He has led the Chiefs to four consecutive AFC Championship Games and two Super Bowl stints.
He’s been a league MVP and a Super Bowl MVP.
Mahomes missed a third Super Bowl stint, thanks to the Bengals defense who made key adjustments in the second half.
More importantly, he helped transform the Chiefs when they were struggling early in the 2021 season.
Before you declare Mahomes as washed up, do not forget to look at what he’s done.
He’s not done collecting trophies in Kansas City, as long as Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are there.
