Things just got a lot better in Dallas.
The Mavericks fanbase didn’t have a lot to look forward to heading into the 2025-2026 NBA season, knowing they didn’t have a superstar to pair alongside Anthony Davis.
Dallas didn’t have much of a chance in the second half of the season after they traded Doncic, and with Davis out for a lot of the year, fans are trying to forget what transpired.
They do have a new hope after Monday’s draft lottery, however, as they now hold the No. 1 overall pick despite having longshot odds of doing so.
Having the No. 1 overall pick allows them to draft Cooper Flagg, one of the most exciting prospects in some time.
Athletes and celebrities alike have reacted to this news, including Patrick Mahomes, who was excited to see his favorite team get such a monumental prospect.

Mahomes has stayed involved in Texas sports despite not living there anymore, and he is a fan who is ready to see what Flagg can do for this organization.
Losing Doncic certainly hurt, but if Flagg is the prospect that everyone thinks he is, there’s no telling what this team’s ceiling is moving forward.
The season isn’t over yet, of course, but having a player like Flagg could help the Mavericks attract top-tier talent over the next several months.
