Against all odds, the Kansas City Chiefs did it again as they managed to repeat as Super Bowl champions when they beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
The first half was largely uneventful, but the second half featured a classic Patrick Mahomes comeback with several clutch plays that allowed the Chiefs to overcome a double-digit deficit.
While Mahomes would go on to win his third Super Bowl MVP award, the defense deserves a lot of credit for keeping Kansas City in the game.
The Chiefs’ defense was the best it’s ever been since Mahomes took over as the starter and L’Jarius Sneed had a large part in that.
Sneed established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league and he cashed in after getting traded to the Tennessee Titans this past week.
Before the trade went down, Mahomes said he was hoping Sneed would come back to Kansas City via PJ Green of Fox4.
“We want everybody to get their money, and so whatever happens we’ll be excited for him but hopefully that’s with the Kansas City Chiefs,” Mahomes said.

With several Chiefs players due for extensions next offseason, the team was forced to trade Sneed who got a four-year, $76 million deal with the Titans.
It’s a huge blow for Kansas City who had Sneed take on the most difficult receiver assignments, though the front office has been adept at finding talent in the draft.
While Sneed got his payday, the Chiefs will need to find a way to replace him either via free agency or the draft.
