The NBA has many players whose focus is on winning games and championships.
But that is not the case with every player.
We see these players play every night, but does the result of each game affect them?
Also, what are they doing behind the scenes to prepare themselves for each game?
These are all questions that Patrick Beverley wonders when looking at a player.
Beverly said on his podcast that 50% of NBA players do not love the game.
“What percentage of NBA players don’t love basketball?”

“50% and I’m being nice”

That may come as a surprise to many, but Beverley sees it in their work ethic.
Some players are not willing to do what is necessary to win.
Beverly mentions preparation as a great way to show if you love the game or not.
You would think that every NBA player works on their game, but he made it seem like that is not the case.
Over a long period, if you do not love something it will get exposed.
That seems to be the case in the NBA, and those types of players are hard to win with.
Upon joining the NBA, the money and fame can get to many players’ heads.
It can cause them to become complacent, and we have seen many players get in trouble for their actions off the court.
While you can probably find players that do not love their sport in every league, it is still surprising to hear a current player say it.
